Introducing the Living Together Index

We understand that evaluating our activities must be an integral part of our work. Thus we introduced the “Living Together Index” ” at our annual partners’ meeting attended by 80 partners, friends and donors in June 2019. The index was developed by the staff and the Task Force of Living Together in cooperation with the ERI Professional Research Institute and a team of researchers led by CEO Gilad Tanay with researchers Tamar Feldman and Dr. Daniella Shidlovski. We developed a unique and one of a kind index to emphasize the quality and impact of our activities. Findings of the index are as follows: Jews in Israel are less familiar with other religions in the country than non-Jewish citizens know about Jews and Judaism. Another interesting finding showed that the group with the highest score in the Living Together Index is the Druze community. Also, while liberalism embraces multiculturalism, in practice, recognition, and appreciation of liberals toward other groups depends on the identity of the other group. Findings of the index will be published in the next few weeks.

. Ms. Khadija Taha, Living Together Board Member, summed up the discussion with a broad and personal insight.

Living Together Annual Partner’s Meeting

Mr. Avi Cohen-Skelly, the Director of the Ministry for Social Equality, greeted us at the meeting: “In a society as complex as the Israeli society, there is no other way to deal with the polarity that exists between different communities in our challenging society, but to Live Together.
