Head of nation-wide programs in the Ministry of Education, Sheik Fares is leading the campaign to increase the number of high-school students studying for five matriculation credit points in math.
Sheik Fares has held various positions with the Ministry of Education: he was in charge of Druze and Circassian education; a supervisor in the north region, the principal at the Druze high-school of sciences, principal of the Hurfeish community elementary school, among others.
A graduate of the Mandel Institute for Leadership, Sheik Fares received the President's Education Award for school principals, and the Brig.-Gen Tamari Award for Excellence. In 2010, he was chosen by The Marker magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in Israeli society.
Sheik Fares has an M.A. in Education Administration and a B.A. in Mathematics from Haifa University.
