Barbivay is the first woman officer in the IDF to receive the rank of Major-General. In her last position in the army she served has the Head of IDF's Manpower Directorate.
On Independence Day 2014, Barbivai was chosen to participate in the Torch Lighting Ceremony as one of the twelve Torch lighters. After retiring from the military, Barbivai was appointed Chair of the Fundraising Department at Israel WIZO Foundation, and is currently CEO of the Corporate Philanthropic Foundation for National Projects.
She has a B.A. in Social Studies and Humanities from Ben-Gurion University and a MA in Social Studies from Haifa University. Barbivai is a graduate of the National Defense College, a member of the executive committee of Maoz, and a lecturer at Bar-Ilan University on Human Resources.
