Yoreinu is an American family foundation operating in Israel to advance a moderate Jewish religious outlook, particularly within Israel’s religious-Zionist sector. Its focus is on issues relating to the integration of Torah and democracy, social justice, attitudes towards the Other, the status of women, Western culture, and Jewish unity. Yoreinu believes in the centrality of the people of Israel, the Torah, and the Land of Israel as the basis of religious Zionism. The foundation’s vision is to see Israel realizing its potential as an exemplar of a Jewish, democratic, and just society, in addition to being the homeland of all Jews, wherever they are. The Foundation aspires for unity within the Jewish people from a perspective of respect for difference, and maintains that Judaism can and should be the source of inspiration for moral social values in our personal, community, and national lives. The Foundation views Judaism as the basis for a joint religious identity and value system, not as a source of dispute creating barriers and divisiveness.
