Originally from Jaffat el Nasra-Yafia, Bisharat has been living in the city of Jaffa for the past six years, after joining the Sadaka-Reut Association in 2010 and heading their youth project. In 2015, Bisharat was appointed co-director of the organization.
Bisharat began her community work in a project of open apartments in Haifa University and volunteered for four years in a mixed Arab and Jewish neighborhood, promoting social change among children, teens, and women. On completing her B.A. in Education and Sociology, Bisharat became a group facilitator in the field of human rights: she coordinates youth projects to raise awareness on the subject with a focus on actively advocating for social change. Seeing today's youngsters as tomorrow's leaders of change, Bisharat believes that working with them is key and that knowledge is the source of power that will enable change.
In addition, for the more then ten years Basharat has been a youth group facilitator with the Women Against Violence Association, raising awareness of gender equality, and she has been a volunteer on the abused women hotline. A social activist, Basharat is a member of the executive committee of the System-Ali House, a youth music center, and of Zazim – a community of social and political change campaigns.
